Welcome to Rosemont, IL!
Located directly between Chicago O'Hare International Airport and the city of Chicago, Rosemont is a small village. Still quite young, it was only incorporated in 1956, though it had been a suburb of Chicago for years before. Due to its favorable location, much of the village is occupied by large hotels, conference centers and office buildings, including nearly every major hotel chain operating in the United States. Thus, Rosemont has become a top meeting, convention, tradeshow and entertainment hub, hosting an average 50,000 visitors a day. In this sense, it is a quintessential edge city, as the village's daytime population and employment base exceeds the number of actual residents. In order to accommodate this startling demographic, there are over 5,000 hotel rooms located throughout Rosemont, along with numerous event and meeting venues. The Donald E. Stephen Convention Center is the 11th largest meeting, convention and trade show facility in the nation. The 19,000 seat Allstate Arena hosts more than 150 events a year, including concerts, sporting and circus events and a massive flea market. In 2007, the Rosemont 18 joined the Rosemont Theatre, in providing the region with a great variety of entertainment.
